Agriculture Water and Environment (AWE) is a collaboration between Balonne Shire Council and St George SHS.  This initiative is aimed at enhancing agricultural education and awareness within and around the Balonne Shire community. The Ag Careers Immersion Program, a key component of this collaboration, plays a pivotal role in exposing students to various facets of careers in agriculture.  Students from St George SHS and around Australia are able to participate in this innovative programming.

By offering hands-on experiences and interactions with professionals across different agricultural sectors, the program provides participants with a holistic understanding of the diverse opportunities available within the industry. From cropping to cotton farming, from ag-tech to indigenous land care, from agronomy to agricultural products, participants gain practical skills and insights that are invaluable for their future career paths.  Students engaging in the Ag Careers Immersion Program are able to gain 1 QCE point through the Short Course in Career Education.

Moreover, the immersive nature of the camp fosters a deep appreciation for the agriculture sector and its significance in shaping both the environment and communities. By connecting students with real-world experiences and industry professionals, the program not only equips them with knowledge but also inspires them to consider pursuing careers in agriculture.

Overall, the AWE collaboration and its Ag Careers Immersion Program are instrumental in strengthening agriculture programming at St George SHS and throughout the Balonne Shire. Through these initiatives, students are empowered to explore and embrace the vast opportunities that exist within the agriculture sector, contributing to the sustainable development of both the local community and the broader agricultural industry.
