​St George SHS has implemented a contemporary approach to Junior Secondary, encompassing curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy. This approach ensures every student is supported to remain on track, with strong and positive transitions from upper primary into and through the junior secondary years.

Grounded in best-practice strategies, our model enhances student success both socially and academically. It promotes engagement, strengthens wellbeing, and fosters a strong sense of connectedness and pride within the school community, ensuring students are well prepared for future pathways.

Version 9 Curriculum Implementation:
The rollout of Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum across Junior Secondary is now complete:

  • Year 7 (implemented 2024)
  • Year 8 (implemented 2025)
  • Year 9 (implemented 2026)

Junior Secondary Assessment and Reporting Framework:

  • Reflects contemporary Junior Secondary pedagogy
  • Supports a strong academic transition from primary to secondary schooling
  • Drives improved student engagement and academic achievement

Ag-Tech Focused Education:

  • Sustained focus on Agriculture across Years 7–12
  • Delivery of real-world, applied learning experiences
  • Integration of Design Technologies (Agriculture) and Digital Technologies across learning areas

STRIVE (St George Resilience, Integrity, and Virtue Education):

  • Ongoing development of students' social, emotional, and communication skills
  • Explicit focus on teamwork, resilience, and leadership

Sport and Recreation:

  • Recreational sport programs embedded in Years 7–10
  • Promoting participation, wellbeing, and active lifestyles
